Popeye should definitely be there.

1980s is a bumper crop for the Philippines. Manila By Night is Ishmael Bernal's Nashville, and masterpiece, Brocka came out with his indispensable Bona, but my personal favorite is Mario O'Hara's Kastilyong Buhangin which I can only describe as "George Cukor's A Star is Born meets Ringo Lam's Prison on Fire."
